| The event was
a complete success, even in the middle of the Foot and Mouth Crisis,
although our numbers were reduced as a result, we still had over 200
entries, 53 sections in all. Our hard working adjudicators, Raymond
Bodell, Fred and Mavis Parnell, were kept extremely busy. It was a
full day of competition, with no break in the day or evening.
We welcomed the independent teachers, schools and enthusiasts, ever
increasing in numbers, competitors from all parts of England, Scotland and
Wales came to compete for the prestigious titles and the beautiful
challenge awards. Top marks were awarded to Heather Winrow, accordion, and
Kathryn Bell Piano. A double crown for Andrew Figg as Musician of the Year
and Entertainer of the Year.
This year the Foot and Mouth Disease has prevented many of our
competitors and supporters from coming, and we look forward to welcoming
them back when things return to normal, our thoughts are with them at this
very sad time.
Thanks to all our administration staff, thank you for all your hard
work on the day, Andrew and John Fairclough on Entries, Lynne Figg on
